ABOUT THE INSTALLATIONSRobert Curgenven
BARDO
A non-place, an in-between zone, Bardo is a spatial and temporal suspension within overlapping yet distinct fields interpermeated by an aetheric tactility: sounds disorientingly enter and leave, merging and confusing the boundaries of interiority and exteriority. Moving from the edge of silence to moments of complete immersion, Bardo draws on the physicality of sound – not just the physical impact on the body but the way in which sound can shape our perception of space and the flow of time – cumulatively fostering a precessional state where one expects things to change but also expects them to stay the same.Barry Weisblat

Barry Weisblat was born in Brooklyn in 1975 and remains one of the unsung heroes of deep and investigative Sound Thought. Beyond a long-running
commitment to participating in the underground’s underground of improvisation and a dynamic sense of musical conversation, Weisblat has extended his reach and pool of knowledge beyond rubbing the surface of the black box of sound to designing and implementing his own systems. Translating light into sound, sound into action, action into thought, and thought into light, Weisblat’s ceaseless curiosity and simultaneous obsessive desire to participate and join in dialogue has pushed his output farther out than most people can see or conceive of.
Some collaborations include work with Marcia Bassett, Margarida Garcia, Andrew Lafkas, Toshio Kajiwara, Matt Valentine, Theo Angell, Otomo Yoshide,  Mattin, Tim Barnes, Greg Pope, Toshi Nakamura, Sean Meehan.Robert Curgenven (1974) is an Australian composer/sound artist living in Cornwall. His work spans immersive resonances via turntables and custom-made vinyl, instrumental harmonics and guitar feedback, through to carefully detailed field recordings from remote areas where he lived for many years. Drawing on the physicality of sound – and not just the physical impact on the body but the way in which the auditory can shape our perception of space and the flow of time – The Wire surmises that “behind the music—to these ears at any rate—lurk such [disparate] presences as Alvin Lucier, King Tubby, Murray Schafer and Eliane Radigue.”
After much of the past six years in Europe, relocating to Cornwall has facilitated a return to the pipe organ, following over 30 years of active engagement in composition, radio and performance since his beginnings as a classically trained organist.
Curgenven has performed over 200 concerts since 2005 throughout Australia and Europe, including Club Transmediale , Ultrahang Festival (Budapest), Feste dell Acqua (Vicenza/Italy), Audiograft Festival (UK),  Define Festival (Denmark), Centre for Contemporary Art (Gdansk) and Alice Springs Desert Festival. He has presented sound, audiovisual and sculptural work in group exhibitions which include Transmediale (Berlin) and 10 Years of Microsound (Diapason Gallery, New York) as well as galleries throughout Australia, Italy, France, UK, Germany and a solo exhibition at the Centre for Contemporary Art, Torun (Poland).
